The Technical Writer, contractor position, will be responsible for supporting the Special Projects Group documentation activities. Candidate will be contracted for a minimum of six months with the opportunity for three month extensions, up to a total of twelve months maximum. Duties will include the auditing of manufacturing processes and revising or creating documents to align to the production activities. Candidate will work alongside manufacturing personnel, engineering team and WillowWood's Document Control Group to deliver accurate technical documentation. Mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of engineering principles and being a quick learner are core competencies for this position. All documentation efforts will be required to adhere to WillowWood's standardized procedures and ISO directive.

Validation of competencies will be required during the interview process. Interviewee's should be prepared to provide samples of pervious work.

 

Essential Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Creation and revisions of/to production Work Instructions
  • Review processes and verify compliant to work instructions
  • Photo documentation, with captions/callouts, of key processing steps (images for Work Instructions)
  • Communication with Production Personnel, Engineering Teammates, Quality and Document Control
  • Utilize standard templates with adherence to ISO standards and WillowWood procedures
  • Channeling all updates through WillowWood's Document Control Group and Product Data Management (PDM) system

Essential Skills Needed for the Job:

Ideal candidate will interface with production staff in auditing various manufacturing processes in preparation for formally documenting the necessary steps within WillowWood's ISO templated formats. All documents will have a consistent layout and continuity to their content.

  • Competent with MS Word and Excel, is required
  • Detail oriented, is required
  • Ability to structure text and graphic content to meet end users expectations, is required
  • Photo skills for capturing processing activities and application of simple post processing of images (necessary cropping, sizing and captioning/callouts), is required
  • Past experience observing manufacturing processes and capturing sequences into work instructions, is required
  • Ability to work independently or in small groups, is required
  • Previous experience in a Light Manufacturing Environment, is preferred
  • "Multiple Tasker", ability to balance many activities simultaneously, is preferred
  • Minimum of Technical School or other accreditation, is preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years practical/applied technical writing experience, is preferred
